Access, and the obligations that come with it.
Special consultative status is granted to organisations whose work bears on part of the Council’s mandate. It carries obligations as well as access: written statements, oral interventions, and a quadrennial report on what the organisation actually did.
For the Nigerian national body the practical value is straightforward. Work on education, welfare, health chaplaincy and community enterprise can be reported into an international forum — and the standards that forum expects then apply back to the work itself.
